GIMP
December 13, 2008 by guezalaGIMP is image editing software, with what seems to be quite a massive following. There are lots of resources out there to help you with it. AND IT’S FREE!
Here is a link to GIMP for Macs. I like that this is available without windows. You can also get GIMP for pcs and macs with windows.
These GIMP beginner tutorials are great to begin, but I found this GIMP tutorial for designing and coding a site REALLY good! I learnt how to create a site and use GIMP in one go.
Help Developer has many other good GIMP tutorials too so check them out!
A superb resource is GIMP talk – a forum for GIMP users, which will answer your questions but also has some good tutorials.
If you decide to try GIMP, I’d love to know how you’re getting on!
Useful Tools and Links
December 13, 2008 by guezalaHere are a list of tools and links I have found REALLY useful. Please note these are good for both macs and pcs!
Type Tester – This is good for trying out font appearances, spacing etc.
Colour Scheme Generator – This is really good to fiddle about with colour schemes for you design; and you can come away with hex codes for the colours you want.
Web Design Forum is an EXCELLENT forum for anyone into web design, beginner, intermediate or otherwise. There are great tutorials, competitions, oodles of useful advice and some great personalities on there – check it out! Oh and I’ll be lurking somewhere….
Web Design on a Mac
December 13, 2008 by guezalaThis blog is dedicated to my journey into web design, with a mac – and no windows! It has been hard at times to find mac equivalent software but it has been done thanks to many helpers. Most of the software I mention is free – added bonus for someone starting web design.
This blog is brand new and being added to all the time, so please keep checking back.
I hope this helps you too!
